19世紀のトリュフを保存していたアンティークボトルです。
フランスのトリュフ産地は主に..南フランス

この高級食材の香りや品質を守るために、光を遮断するための遮光性の高いダークグリーンのガラスボトルが使われていたようです。
19世紀後半～1900年代初期、フランスの保存食文化が発達した時代
ガラス瓶で保存する技術(アペール法↓)がだんだん広がっていき、トリュフ・フォアグラ・野菜などを瓶詰めにしていたようです。
フランス人二コラ・アペールが19世紀初頭に、保存法を開発しました。 (現在の缶詰や瓶詰の元祖)
1.食品を容器に入れ、コルクやワックスなどで蓋をし密閉
2.沸騰水や蒸気で加熱処理 (現在の加熱殺菌と同じ原理)
3.冷却することで、密閉状態が保たれ、長期保存が可能に
4.ワックスや樹脂でさらに密閉
完全に空気が入らない状態を作ることで、数年の保存が可能になるとのこと
光を遮る濃いダークグリーンのガラスに口がすぼんで密閉しやすい形
まさに保存用に作られた工夫が感じられるデザインです。

【19th Century French Antique Truffle Storage Bottle – Southern France】
An antique bottle once used for storing truffles, dating from the 19th century.
In France, truffles are mainly harvested in southern regions such as
Périgord, Provence, and Occitanie.
To preserve the delicate aroma and quality of this prized ingredient, dark green glass bottles with strong light-blocking properties were often used.
During the late 19th to early 20th century, food preservation culture developed significantly in France.
At that time, the technique of preserving food in glass containers—known as the Appert method—became widely used. Truffles, foie gras, vegetables and other foods were commonly stored in sealed jars and bottles.
This preservation technique was developed in the early 19th century by the French inventor Nicolas Appert, and is considered the origin of modern canning and bottling methods.
Food was placed in a container, sealed with cork or wax, then heated in boiling water or steam before being cooled to maintain an airtight seal, allowing food to be preserved for long periods.
The deep dark-green glass blocks light, while the slightly narrowed neck helps create a tight seal—details that clearly reflect its original purpose as a storage bottle.
With its elegant and simple form, this beautiful bottle also makes a lovely display piece or a vase for seasonal plants and flowers.
