クレールフォンテーヌ(Clairefontaine)窯のテールドフェールの"ANEMONES(アネモネ)”シリーズのオーバルプレートです。
ノスタルジックなフレンチブルーで描かれた繊細なアネモネの描写がなんとも美しい一枚です。19世紀後半の手仕事ならではの温かみと品の良さを感じられます。
クレールフォンテーヌ(Clairefontaine)窯とは..
19世紀から20世紀初頭にかけて、フランス東部のフランシュ＝コンテ地方(現在のジュラ県に位置していて、スイス国境にも近い森や山が多い自然豊かな地域)にあったファイアンスとテールドフェールの陶器を製作していた陶器工場です。1804年に創業されました。
テールドフェールは、陶器でも磁器でもない独特の質感で半磁器に近いフランスの強化陶器です。
主成分は、陶土と長石、石英の配合によって陶器より硬くて丈夫で磁器に近い白さが出るそう。滑らかで艶のある仕上がりになる透明釉を使用し、装飾品としての美しさを引き立てています。
時代によっては鉛釉を混ぜていたこともあるようです。
絵柄ですが、、花や木々、鳥など自然なものをモチーフとした転写プリントの装飾が多くバリエーションも豊富なのが特徴です。
また、裏部分のマークのLG刻印(イカリマークとLG)は、1894-1913年の時代にレオン・グレイブスが統括していた時のマークのようです。LG刻印の年代のものはかなり人気が高いお品だと思います。
現存数が少ない希少品で、自信を持っておすすめできる逸品です。

【French Antique Oval Plate – Clairefontaine】
An oval plate from the “ANEMONES” series by Clairefontaine Faïencerie.
Anemones drawn in a nostalgic French blue.
The delicate design is simply beautiful.
You can feel the warmth and quiet elegance of late 19th century handwork.
Clairefontaine was a pottery factory founded in 1804 in the Franche-Comté region in eastern France, near the Swiss border.
It produced faience and terre de fer pieces from the 19th to the early 20th century.
Terre de fer is a strong French earthenware, somewhere between pottery and porcelain.
It is made from a mix of clay, feldspar and quartz, which makes it harder and more durable than ordinary pottery, with a white tone close to porcelain.
A clear glaze gives it a smooth and slightly glossy finish.
In some periods, lead glaze was also used.
Many pieces feature transfer-printed motifs of flowers, trees and birds, with a wide variety of designs.
The back stamp shows the anchor mark with “LG”, used during the time Léon Graves directed the factory (1894–1913).
Pieces with this LG mark are especially popular.
Fewer pieces remain today, making this a rare item.
